Day 1 : Bagdogra – Phuentsholing
Arrive Bagdogra airport meet our representative have lunch & proceed to Phuentsholing. (5 hrs Journey) the gateway to the south, Phuentsholing is a thriving commercial centre on the northern edge of the Indian plains. Situated directly at the base of the Himalayan foothills, it is a fascinating mixture of Indian and Bhutanese, a perfect example of mingling of people and their culture Night halt at Phuentsholing.
Day 2 : Phuentsholing – Thimpu
After lunch proceed to Thimpu (6-7 hrs journey) This entire drive is very pleasant with numerous scenic spots en route. On arrival visit Thimpu hotel & day will be free at leisure.
Day 3 : Thimpu Sightseeing
After breakfast,sightseeing tour Thimphu which includes at visit to : The National Institute of Traditional Medicine (outside only), where Bhutan’s famed traditional herbal medicines are compounded and dispensed.The Institute for Zorig Chusum (commonly known as the Painting School),National Textile Museum .You will also see people weaving with intricate designs.The folk heritage museum, The School of Traditional Painting of Arts and Crafts, Private weaving centre at Changzamtok where you will find women weaving beautiful and colorful silk and cotton textiles to be mostly worn by women.The Takin Preserve, which houses the national animal the Takin that is only found in Bhutan. The drive further up to Sangaygang to enjoy the bird’s eye view of Thimphu valley. Tashichhodzong, a fortress of the glorious religion. Government-run Handicrafts Emporium and local Bhutanese craft shops, to browse through examples of Bhutan’s fine traditional arts. Here you can buy hand-woven Bhutanese textiles, thangkha paintings, masks, ceramics, slate and wood carvings, jewelry, and other interesting items made from local materials. Drive to Kuensel Phodrang and take a short leisure hike to the Kuensel Phodrang Nature Park and enjoy the full view of Thimphu Valley below.Visit Buddha Point and offer your prayers to the largest Buddha statue in the country and walk around to enjoy the great view of Thimphu valley below.Overnight at hotel in Thimphu.
Day 4 : Thimpu – Punakha / Wangdue
After early breakfast, travel to Punakha through Dochula Pass (3,088m/10130ft). if you have clear sky, the view of the Himalayan ranges is spectacular. Continue drive towards Punakha. Stop at Lobesa village and have lunch before going for a short hike to Chimi Lhakhang (Temple of Fertility), it is dedicated to Lam Drukpa Kuenley (Divine Mad Man) and is the place from where Phalluses originated as the symbol of fertility and protection and can be seen everywhere in Bhutan, on house walls and roofs and altars. After that drive to your hotel and relax for the day.Overnight at a hotel in Punakha/ Wangdue Phodrang.
Day 5 : Punakha/ Wangdue excursion
After breakfast, drive up North wards to hike up to Khamsum Yueley Namgyal Chorten, a beautiful stupa dedicated to the 5th King. Then drive down to Punakha and visit Punakha Dzong, It is considered one of the most beautiful dzongs in the country and is believed to be a replica of Guru Padmasambhava’s palace in his paradise. Have lunch in town after that and drive towards Wangdue Phodrang and stop near Rinchengang village to go visit it. The village is one of the oldest continually inhabited communities in the country. Drive back to Punakha through Wangdue Phodrang and on a dirt road across the river.Overnight at a hotel in Punakha. Wangdue Phodrang.
Day 6 : Wangdue – Paro :
After breakfast, walk to Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten (50 Minutes) temple built by the Queen of Bhutan for peace and stability in this ever-changing world.Visit Wangdue Dzong and drive back to Paro driving through the idyllic countryside. Dotted with villages and paddy fields, crossing rivers and nature forests to Paro. Evening free for strolling around Paro town, shopping, etc. Overnight at Paro.
Day 7 : Paro – Taktsang
After breakfast, travel to the base camp and then hike up to the Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest). The climb up to the viewpoint will take approx 3 hours. Enjoy the stunning view of the Monastery, where Guru Padmasambhava flew on the back of a tiger . Walk back to the road point and drive to hotel for lunch. Drive to Drukgyel Dzong (fortress) now in ruins..In the afternoon, visit Kichu temple one of the 108 temples built by the Tibetan King Songsten Gampo.Visit the Dungte Lhakhang.Overnight at hotel in Paro.
Day 8 : Paro – Phuentsholing
After breakfast drive to Chele La Pass, highest motor driven pass (3700 Meters). After lunch proceed to Phuentsholing. Night halt at Phuentsholing.
Day 9 : Phuentsholing – Bagdogra Airport
After breakfast proceed to Bagdogra to board your flight. (Flight to be booked after 14:30) Tour ends with sweet memories conducted by Trip 4 Joy.
