Day 1 : Arrive Paro – Thimphu
On arrival at the Paro Airport your Tour Guide from Trip 4 Joy travel agent, and then taken to Paro town for lunch and to freshen up. After lunch, visit the National Museum, housed in the Ta Dzong, Here an intriguing collection of artifacts provide a wonderful introduction to the rich culture and heritage of the kingdom. Rinpung Dzong, The Dzong is now being used as an administration center and school for monks.Then walk down to Rimpung Bridge (Traditonal Bridge), oldest bridge in Bhutan. Start drive to Thimphu and check-in at your hotel and then go out in town to mingle with the locals.Overnight at a hotel in Thimphu.
Day 2 : Thimphu – Punakha/Wangdue :
After early breakfast, travel to Punakha through Dochula Pass . if you have clear sky, the view of the Himalayan ranges is spectacular. Continue drive towards Punakha. Stop at Lobesa village and have lunch before going for a short hike to Chimi Lhakhang , it is dedicated to Lam Drukpa Kuenley and is the place from where Phalluses originated as the symbol of fertility and protection and can be seen everywhere in Bhutan, on house walls and roofs and altars. After that drive to your hotel and relax for the day.Overnight at a hotel in Punakha/ Wangdue Phodrang
Day 3 : Punakha/ Wangdue excursion
After breakfast, drive up North wards to hike up to Khamsum Yueley Namgyal Chorten, a beautiful stupa dedicated to the 5th King. Then drive down to Punakha and visit Punakha Dzong, It is considered one of the most beautiful dzongs in the country and is believed to be a replica of Guru Padmasambhava’s palace in his paradise. Have lunch in town after that and drive towards Wangdue Phodrang and stop near Rinchengang village to go visit it. The village is one of the oldest continually inhabited communities in the country. Drive back to Punakha through Wangdue Phodrang and on a dirt road across the river.Overnight at a hotel in Punakha. Wangdue Phodrang.
Day 4 : Punakha/Wangdue – Thimphu :
After breakfast, drive up to Dochula Pass and then down to Thimphu where you will have lunch.On arrival at Thimphu check into your hotel and after lunch drive to the Takin Preserve to see Bhutan’s National animal, a weird one that looks like a mix between a cow and a goat, then drive to Kuensel Phodrang to see the world’s tallest ‘Sitting Buddha’ (167 ft). Drive back down to town and you are done for the day. Overnight at a hotel in Thimphu.
Day 5 : Thimphu Excursion:
After breakfast travel to Thimphu and check into your hotel. The full day Thimphu tour includes visit to the following:
- The National Library, housing an extensive collection of priceless Buddhist manuscripts. The National Institute of Traditional Medicine, where Bhutan’s famed traditional herbal medicines are compounded and dispensed.
- The Institute for Zorig Chusum Painting School) where students undergo a 6-year training course in Bhutan’s 13 traditional arts and crafts.
- The National Folk Heritage Museum to get an insight into the typical Bhutanese way of life.
- The Textile Museum to get an understanding of the beautiful hand woven Bhutanese textiles.
- Centenary Farmers’ Market where farmers sell their farm produces and free interaction with local people who come shopping to this market, especially on weekends.
- Craft Bazaar where artisans and craftsmen from across the country come to sell their products. Overnight at a hotel in Thimphu.
Day 6 : Thimphu – Haa Valley – Paro
After breakfast travel to Haa valley through the stretch of villages of Dogakha, Susuna and Jabana visiting typical Bhutanese farmhouses along the way and you will see farmers working in their farms. Drive further onto Haa Valley. After lunch at Haa valley, explore the valley and then travel to Paro valley via Chilela pass . On a clear day you will see Himalayan mountain peaks from Chilela pass. Then drive onto Paro valley.overnight at a hotel in Paro.
Day 7 : Paro – Taktsang
After breakfast, travel to the base camp and then hike up to the Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest). The climb up to the viewpoint will take approx 3 hours. Enjoy the stunning view of the Monastery, where Guru Padmasambhava flew on the back of a tiger . Walk back to the road point and drive to hotel for lunch. Drive to Drukgyel Dzong (fortress) now in ruins..In the afternoon, visit Kichu temple one of the 108 temples built by the Tibetan King Songsten Gampo.Visit the Dungte Lhakhang.Overnight at hotel in Paro.
Day 8 : Paro Departure
After breakfast, your tour guide will escort you to the Paro International airport for Drukair flight to your onward destinations
